About the job:
Blacklock Financial are partnered with a leading energy-focused private equity firm seeking to add an
Associate
to their investment team.
Responsibilities: The Associate will support senior team members across all stages of the investment lifecycle, from opportunity sourcing and evaluation through to due diligence, execution, and portfolio management.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Screen, evaluate, and analyse energy investment opportunities
— including renewable generation, energy transition technologies, and traditional assets undergoing decarbonisation — to form independent views on their attractiveness and value potential.
Take primary responsibility for financial modelling , including valuation and sensitivity analysis, to identify key value drivers, assess risk, and evaluate future growth prospects.
Support the due diligence process , collaborating with technical, commercial, and financial advisors to assess assets, technologies, and counterparties.
Assist in preparing internal materials
and contribute to presenting investment recommendations to the Investment Committee.
Work closely with portfolio companies , providing analytical support and monitoring operational, financial, and ESG performance.
Lead research into emerging energy sectors and trends , identifying new investment themes such as energy storage, grid infrastructure, low‑carbon fuels, and distributed generation.
Represent the firm at industry events and conferences , building relationships and maintaining visibility within the energy investment community.
Maintain the firm’s proprietary database
of potential investment opportunities and market intelligence.
Perform other responsibilities
related to the execution of the fund’s energy investment mandate.
Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have
1–5 years of experience
in investment banking, private equity, or a related financial discipline. The candidate should demonstrate a strong technical and analytical background coupled with a
genuine interest in the energy and energy transition sectors .
Other specific qualifications include:
Proven
analytical and financial modelling skills , including a deep understanding of valuation, deal structuring, and financing.
Demonstrated
transaction experience , ideally within the energy, power, or natural resources sectors.
Excellent
communication and presentation skills , with the ability to produce high-quality deliverables and investment materials.
Entrepreneurial and self‑starting
attitude, with the ability to work collaboratively within a small and dynamic team.
Strong
sense of ownership and accountability , with an enthusiasm for driving impactful investments that contribute to the global energy transition.
