WE ARE HIRING! Position : Lead CNC Programmer / Machinist

Location : Portland, Oregon

Pay : $25 – $45 per hour (DOE)

Schedule : Full-time

What You’ll Do You’ll lead our machining operations in a hands‑on role that includes multi‑axis CNC programming, setup, and daily supervision of a small team.

Responsibilities

Programming & Setup: Create and optimize CNC programs for multi‑axis mills and lathes using Mastercam and SolidWorks. Design fixtures and tooling for efficient setups.

Lead Setups for critical jobs with proper workholding and tooling.

Standardize processes to improve setup times and consistency.

Floor Leadership: Supervise and act as the technical lead on the machining floor. Assign jobs, monitor progress, and ensure production and quality targets are met.

Train and support machinists.

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Quality & Efficiency: Oversee inspection of parts using calipers, micrometers, and CMMs. Ensure parts meet engineering drawings and GD&T specs.

Collaborate with engineering and leadership to improve strategies and shop efficiency.

Maintain machine upkeep and monitor maintenance schedules.

What You Need to Have

10 years of CNC programming, setup, and machining experience.

Leadership or supervisory experience in a machine shop.

Proficiency in Mastercam, SolidWorks, and G-code programming (milling and turning, including 5-axis).

Strong understanding of tooling, materials, feeds/speeds, and precision machining.

Ability to read technical drawings and interpret GD&T.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

The Musts

Hands‑on experience with 3, 4, and 5‑axis CNC machines.

Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor team members.

High standards for quality, safety, and efficiency.

Preferred

Background in aerospace, defense, or medical industries.

Experience implementing process improvements on the shop floor.
