Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Job Summary The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating nursing services for the residents at Emerald Nursing & Rehab Cozad. The ADON works closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) to ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care, compliance with regulations, and the efficient management of nursing staff and resources.

Responsibilities

Assist the DON in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing practices and protocols.

Ensure the delivery of high‑quality care by monitoring resident health and making necessary adjustments to care plans.

Conduct regular assessments and audits to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Supervise and support nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.

Assist in recruitment, training, and evaluation of nursing staff.

Foster a collaborative and positive work environment through regular team meetings and professional development opportunities.

Ensure that all resident care is delivered in accordance with their individual care plans; address and resolve resident or family concerns related to nursing care.

Participate in care conferences and communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations and ensure that the facility adheres to all relevant guidelines and standards.

Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections and surveys, addressing any identified issues promptly.

Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and facility performance.

Analyze clinical data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Assist with the development and maintenance of nursing policies and procedures.

Manage nursing documentation and ensure accuracy and completeness.

Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a valid state license in Nebraska or Multi‑State.

Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in a long‑term care or skilled nursing facility.

Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.

CPR and First Aid certifications required; certification in Gerontology or related fields preferred.

Skills

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

In‑depth knowledge of nursing care standards and regulatory requirements.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
