About The Position JOB OVERVIEW Job Title: Pediatric Pulmonary Disease Physician Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Charleston, WV Service Setting: Inpatient Coverage Type: Clinical Call Coverage Period: 01/05/2026 Ongoing Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday Friday, Daytime Office Hours On-Call Shift Schedule: Home Call Coverage (when other pediatric pulmonologist is off) Call Type: Beeper Call Ratio: Shared (alternating with other pediatric pulmonologist) Call Response Time: Within 30 minutes (expected) COVERAGE DATES Two weeks per month coverage starting January 2026 PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Pediatric patients up to 21 years of age Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 20 patients per clinic day Admissions: As needed during inpatient consult coverage Rounding: Included when inpatient coverage applies Phone Consults: Yes, during call coverage Case Mix: General pediatric pulmonology, cystic fibrosis, asthma, and related respiratory conditions FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: TBD (Women & Children's Division) Trauma Level: Adult Level IV EMR System: Cerner Office Equipment Available: Standard pulmonary diagnostic tools, spirometry, bronchoscopy suite Specialty Backup Available: Pediatrics, Respiratory Therapy, Social Work, Dietician Support Staff Available: Medical Assistants, CF Nurse/Coordinator, RT, Social Worker, Dietician Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coverage during colleague absences and ongoing support PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Temporary Privileges Available: Yes Credentialing Timeline: 6090 days COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) interpretation Full PFT and spirometry readings Bronchoscopy JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active West Virginia license (willing to license) Board: Board Certified in Pediatric Pulmonology; Board Certified in General Pediatrics preferred DEA: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Experience: Prior pediatric pulmonology experience preferred Other Qualifications: Familiarity with Cerner EMR system DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct outpatient pediatric pulmonology clinic, managing up to 20 patients per day Provide inpatient consults when covering for other pediatric pulmonologist Participate in shared call rotation (home call) Interpret and review pulmonary function tests (PFTs) and spirometry Perform bronchoscopies and related procedures as needed Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including CF Nurse, RT, Social Worker, and Dietician Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Cerner EMR 1675578EXPTEMP Top Reasons to Choose a Locum Tenens Assignment Enjoy the flexibility of short-term assignments, allowing you to test the waters before committing to permanent positions or long-term contracts.
