Position Summary As a keyfront-line member of TSIB’s Eastern Regional Claims Team, the Claims Manageroversees a dynamic portfolio of complex construction-related claims for TurnerConstruction—the nation’s largest commercial contractor—and other TSIB clients.With a focus on New York Labor Law and high-exposure general liability matters,this position combines technical claims expertise with hands-on collaborationacross Legal, Operations, and Risk Management teams. The Claims Manager driveseffective investigation, negotiation, and resolution strategies whilepartnering closely with the Regional Director of Claims to deliver exceptionalclient outcomes and uphold TSIB’s standards of excellence.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities Claims Oversight & Management

Manage and oversee all claimactivity within assigned region, including general liability, New YorkLabor Law and builder’s risk claims.

Ensure claims are promptly andaccurately reported to applicable carriers, with complete and compliantdocumentation, statements, and notices.

Coordinate investigations withOperations, Safety, and Legal teams; assign and direct third-partyinvestigators as needed.

Lead claim strategy forhigh-severity injury, property damage, and catastrophic loss cases,collaborating with defense and coverage counsel.

Direct insurers and TPAs toensure active engagement, timely assignment, and effective claimshandling. Review and analyze legalstrategy, expert findings, and settlement evaluations; participate inmediation, arbitration, and trial planning.

Maintain organized andcomplete claim records within the Claims Management System, followinginternal and client SOPs.

Client & Carrier Partnership

Serve as a primary claimscontact for Turner Construction’s regional leadership, project executives,and Risk Management team.

Advocate with insurancecarriers to achieve fair reserving, responsive coverage decisions, andproactive settlement strategies.

Partner with the RegionalDirector to select and manage defense and coverage counsel, experts andlitigation-related vendors.

Attend mediations, trials, andkey project or client meetings as a representative of TSIB.

Strategic & Analytical Responsibilities

Evaluate loss trends,reserves, and exposure data to identify cost drivers and recommend processor coverage improvements.

Formulate and execute claimresolution strategies that balance financial, operational, andreputational objectives.

Leadership & Team Development

Provide technical guidance,mentorship, and performance feedback to Claims Analysts and Coordinatorswithin the region.

Support the professionalgrowth of team members through training on claim trends, Labor Lawdevelopments, and litigation strategy.

Other Responsibilities

Participate in client andinternal meetings, including Safety, Operations, Environmental, and Legalforums.

Contribute to continuousimprovement of claims procedures, documentation standards, and riskmitigation strategies.

Perform other duties asassigned.

The salary range for this position in the New York Metropolitan Area is $112,000 – $173,000

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field; or equivalent education and experience.

Minimum 5+ years of construction claims experience, including direct handling of New York Labor Law and complex general liability claims.

Strong understanding of contractual risk transfer, insurance coverage, and litigation management.

Experience managing high-severity claims for large general contractors or owners preferred.

Juris Doctor (J.D.) or prior legal experience is not required but is considered a strong plus, particularly experience with construction litigation or coverage matters.

OSHA knowledge and experience; OSHA 30-hour certification a plus.

Proven negotiation, influencing, and analytical skills with sound judgment and decision-making.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and claims management systems.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface across organizational levels.

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple complex matters simultaneously.

Limited travel required (air, train, or vehicle) for mediations, trials, and site visits.
