Salary: $Excellent Benefits: To be discussed at interview Job Type: Direct Hire Location: Steelton PA Job Start date: ASAP Were supporting our client, a leading metal manufacturer based in Steelton, Pennsylvania who are looking for a Controls Technician to join their growing team. The successful Controls Technicianwill have experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, with strong hands-on experience in controls maintenance or automation systems. Job Summary: As a Controls Technician, youll be responsible for supporting and maintaining automation and control systems across its production operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring continuous, safe, and efficient manufacturing processes through troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of electrical and control systems. Responsibilities: Install, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, and related automation equipment. Perform electrical and control system diagnostics to minimize downtime and improve process reliability. Support production by identifying root causes of control system issues and implementing corrective actions. Program, modify, and document PLC logic (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar). Maintain and update electrical drawings, wiring schematics, and control documentation. Assist in equipment upgrades, retrofits, and automation improvement projects. Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to ensure system reliability and compliance with safety standards. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical and control systems. Support data acquisition, sensors, and process instrumentation troubleshooting. Ensure compliance with company safety, environmental, and operational policies. About You: Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field (Bachelors preferred but not required). 3+ years in an industrial or manufacturing environment, with strong hands-on experience in controls maintenance or automation systems. Proficiency with PLCs (Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Siemens S7, etc.). Experience with HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and process instrumentation. Understanding of industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Profibus, Modbus). Ability to read and interpret electrical and control schematics. Strong troubleshooting skills with electrical systems (up to 480V).
