Principal / Senior Principal Systems Engineer (Modeling & Simulation) R10209612 at Northrop Grumman. This role involves system performance analysis and system-level modeling to analyze interactions among lower-level model components. On-site: Redondo Beach, CA or the greater Baltimore, MD area. Program/System Level role that partners with MOD/SIM Lead within the Directorate of Engineering. Model system performance and system-level interactions (electrical, mechanical, thermal, digital, etc.) among lower-level models to analyze overall performance. Model fabrication/factory performance in support of future work; familiarity with fabrication modeling tools (e.g., FlexSim) is welcome. Collaborate as part of the MOD/SIM team to ensure accurate representation of system configurations and performance values. Basic Qualifications Principal Systems Engineer (Modeling & Simulation)
Bachelors Degree in STEM with at least 5 years of experience; or 3 years with Masters; or 1 year with PhD. Strong understanding of Systems Engineering fundamentals, principles, and processes. Ability to apply M&S expertise through technology processes, methodologies, standards, or frameworks. Experience applying STAT/DOE tools and methodologies in an integrated test environment. Expertise with Modeling & Simulation tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, COMSOL, FlexSim). Demonstrated MBSE experience, including defining analyses with parametric diagrams and capturing different system configurations and performance values. U.S. citizenship is required. Current DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI and a Polygraph prior to start. Basic Qualifications Senior Principal Systems Engineer (Modeling & Simulation)
Bachelors Degree in STEM with at least 8 years of experience; or 6 years with Masters; or 4 years with PhD. Same foundational requirements as Principal position: Systems Engineering fundamentals, M&S methodologies, STAT/DOE tools, MBSE, and required citizenship. Current DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI and a Polygraph prior to start. Preferred Qualifications
Current active DoD TS/SCI with Polygraph. STEM degree in mathematics, physics, or in EE/ME/CE. Strong mathematical background (linear algebra, differential equations). Statistics background (hypothesis testing, goodness of fit, Bayesian stats). Experience with model verification and validation (V&V). Proficiency with MATLAB or similar tools for detailed analysis and modeling. Familiarity with project and task management tools (Jira, Confluence). Proven history of successful model verification and validation to enable milestone tests and demonstrations. Compensation & Benefits
Primary Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00 Secondary Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00 Salary depends on scope, responsibilities, experience, and market conditions. Overtime/Shift differential eligibility and discretionary bonus may apply; long-term incentives for certain roles.
