SUPERVISOR - LIFT MATERIAL HANDLER - YARD
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Communicate internally and with drivers daily
- Load and unload flatbed trailers safely
- Follow all SOPs accordingly
- Maintain all Safety parameters including personnel and machinery (weekly safety talks & daily pre-shift inspections)
- Ensure availability of all dry lumber including correct species, dimensions and quantity
- Manually pull individual boards as requested by the rough mill or custom orders while minimizing waste
- Perform lumber audits (visual and moisture content meter readings) according to specifications while working with lumber procurement; quarantine loads for further inspection quickly
- Correctly identify, label and inventory material in the company's system
- Maintain accurate inventory records both on material and within the inventory system
- Maintain organization of lumber in various ways (species, length, thickness)
- Assist with End of Month/Year Inventory procedures
- Communicate daily usage with the accounting department
- Consistent and reliable work flow
Additional duties required:
- Assist on the line in the rough mill as needed
Required Qualifications:
- 2-5 years operating heavy equipment with a positive safety record
- Valid driver's license
- Basic computer skills
- Good math skills
- Ability to read and follow both written and verbal communication
- Maintain a high level of safety standards
- Good communication skills
- Regularly lift and move boards weighing, on average 50-75 lbs; occasionally higher weights are involved
Working Conditions:
- High noise level in the rough mill – must wear ear protection
- Eye protection is also required at all times
- Fast paced and quality, quantity-driven while in the mill
- Must always be aware of pedestrian and lift traffic while operating
- Extreme weather conditions to be expected based on seasonal changes
