Role Overview
As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will lead the design and development of high-performance hardware systems. Your contributions will affect the reliability and innovation of our rugged computing platforms and mission-critical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Design & Development: Lead the design of electrical components, schematic capture, and PCB layout using tools like Altium Designer. Employ advanced techniques in both analog and digital high-speed designs.
- Embedded Systems & Microcontroller Integration: Develop embedded hardware and software solutions using PIC or similar microcontrollers, supporting the integration of computing hardware and system architecture.
- Interconnect & Signal Design: Design interconnects with various high-speed protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, USB, I2C, and UART, ensuring best practices for EMI/EMC compliance.
- Documentation & BOM Management: Create and manage design documentation, BOMs, and project status reports while collaborating across engineering and production teams.
- Testing & Compliance: Develop test plans for DVT and production phases, and ensure our products meet MIL-STD, safety, and regulatory standards in lab and manufacturing settings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Intermediate to advanced experience in hardware design, PCB layout, and schematic capture
- Proficient in high-speed interconnect protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, USB, I2C, and UART
- Solid understanding of both analog and digital PCB design
- Experience with embedded systems and designs using PIC or similar microcontrollers
- Proficient in Altium Designer, AutoCAD/ProgeCAD, and Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with BOM documentation and project reporting
- Knowledge of rugged computing platforms, Intel/AMD processors, FPGAs, and Linux
- Strong analytical and debugging skills, along with problem-solving abilities
- Ability to interpret customer specifications and requirements
- Detail-oriented and organized, with a collaborative approach
- Comfortable working in lab and manufacturing environments and able to lift up to 50 lbs
