About the Team

The Avionics team oversees the complete lifecycle of the Terran R's nervous system, responsible for designing, building, testing, installing, and operating the hardware that connects and controls every major electrical system on the vehicle and ground. Our engineers collaborate closely with propulsion, GNC, fluids, and stage engineering teams to ensure flawless integration and operation.

About the Role

As a Senior Mixed-Signal Hardware Engineer on the Avionics team, you'll play a crucial role in designing, testing, and analyzing custom electronics for the Terran R launch vehicle. You will guide hardware development from concept to flight readiness, including board bring-up, design verification, qualification, initial flight production, integration, and vehicle operations. Collaborating with various cross-functional teams across the company, you’ll make impactful decisions that enhance the overall vehicle performance.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in electronics designed for harsh environments and mission-critical applications, such as launch vehicles, spacecraft, aircraft, or robotics.
  • Proficient in eCAD software like Altium or equivalent.
  • Experienced in hardware bring-up, validation, debugging, and data analysis.
  • Competent in board-level design from concept through manufacturing.
  • Able to work effectively in highly cross-functional teams (mechanical, thermal, electrical, software, etc.) to develop integrated electronic solutions.

Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with embedded software development and integration for avionics systems.
  • Experience with design for reliability and manufacturability of avionics hardware and systems.
  • Understanding of interfacing hardware, including sensors (thermocouples, pressure transducers) and electromechanical devices (solenoids, pyrotechnics, actuators).

Compensation

Hiring Range: $189,000 - $241,000 USD
