Summary:

The Commercial Lending Officer plays a key role in fulfilling Tropical Financial Credit Union's mission to guide members through the financial marketplace. This position focuses on growing the Credit Union's commercial lending portfolio by promoting, selling, and processing a range of business loan products while ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

This role emphasizes building strong community relationships to identify and meet the financial needs of local businesses, fostering trust and long-term partnerships. Success in this position requires a proactive approach to business development, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to delivering superior member service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities .

Business Development and Relationship Management Uphold Tropical Financial Credit Union's Service Standards of Excellence in all interactions. Develop and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders, such as business owners, professionals, and vendors, to promote the Credit Union's services. Identify and target market segments to establish the Credit Union as a trusted provider of commercial financial services. Actively seek new commercial lending opportunities by conducting prospect interviews and preparing comprehensive loan packages. Represent the Credit Union in the community, fostering relationships to support business growth and financial well-being. Loan Management

Conduct financial analysis to assess creditworthiness and structure loans that meet member needs while aligning with Credit Union policies. Manage a portfolio of commercial loans, ensuring compliance with loan terms, timely receipt of financial information, and covenant adherence. Monitor loan repayment activities and address delinquent accounts as needed. Prepare and present loan applications to the Business Loan Committee, ensuring accurate and complete documentation. Compliance and Risk Management

Ensure adherence to sound lending practices and compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. Maintain accurate and complete loan files to meet internal audit and regulatory standards. Assist management with audit preparation and promptly address audit exceptions. Stay informed on economic trends, regulatory updates, and competitive factors affecting the Credit Union's commercial lending activities. Collaboration and Cross-Selling Partner with internal teams and business units to identify cross-sell opportunities for consumer and business products. Deliver compelling sales presentations to prospective clients, showcasing the Credit Union's value and solutions. Promote and support other Credit Union services that meet member needs, including deposit accounts and financial planning tools. Stay informed about economic trends and provide timely feedback to ensure the Credit Union remains competitive. Maintain knowledge of all commercial products and services, actively promoting solutions that meet member needs. BSA Compliance:

Every employee is required to uphold the Credit Union's compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and anti-money laundering (AML) policies and procedures.

• This role takes into consideration the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity that is relevant to the department.

• In addition to any other assigned training courses, online BSA and OFAC courses must be completed at least annually.

• Ensure ongoing individual compliance with all regulatory requirements established in the SAFE Act, if required.

• Knowledgeable of BSA, Customer Identification Program (CIP), USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending, and Credit Card Act.

• Comply with all TFCU policies and procedures to ensure compliance with such regulations.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered). 5-8 years of commercial lending experience, including expertise in commercial mortgage, equipment, and inventory lending. Knowledge of Credit Union policies, consumer and mortgage lending products, and federal lending regulations is preferred. Skills and Competencies

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building abilities, with experience engaging with diverse stakeholders. Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Analytical thinking with the ability to assess complex financial situations and make informed recommendations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), lending software and AI related tools. Ability to facilitate presentations for external and internal, individuals and groups. Must display a strong sense of integrity in all of their interactions. May participate or serve as a lead in a project for the sake of continuous improvement. Actively contributes, presents, participates and/or completes all related training. Ability to prepare reports with detailed feedback, and add notes in members' records as needed Must possess above average time management, problem-solving and prioritization skills Display a high degree of motivation, initiative, collaboration and actively interact and be an engaged team player Strong technical abilities to learn and effectively review information and relevant transactions on commercial member database, and interact and communicate with enterprise communication systems, e.g., phone calls, messaging, email, etc. Attention to Detail to read and interpret documents such as policy, procedure manuals and job-aides and provide recommendations for improvement when necessary. Exhibit high degree of professionalism and confidentiality in handling and accessing to sensitive information. Ability to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends and overtime as needed Physical Demands:
