Job Responsibilities

A full-time temporary grant Retention Counselor, funded by the Department of Labor (DOL) Strengthening Community Colleges grant initiative, will focus on working with Advanced Manufacturing and Nursing Pathway student participants from credit, continuing education, and K-12 Career and Technical Education to ensure that students progress along the College's career pathway opportunities.

The position is funded by DOL through February 2027.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide career counseling services and retention-oriented workshops to Advanced Manufacturing and Nursing Pathway students and to potential students. Engage with project faculty and student participants to remove barriers, including emergency financial support, to encourage retention and completion. Follow-up with students, faculty, and academic service providers to ensure that appropriate student academic and support services are provided to participants. Provide intervention services as needed to ensure academic success. Ensure that all college and DOL intake and progression services are completed and that students are advised by a college advisor. Certify in the project's database that students meet the criteria to be counted as a DOL project participant. Document each DOL student's progression in the pathways in the project's database, including entry and exit points, services received, industry and college credentials completed, and services received. Follow up with outreach to program completers to gather information regarding job placement and job upskill status, and document results in the project database. Generate regular reports to support grant outcomes and monitor key performance indicators, including updates on student progress, completion issues, and database entry. Assist with documenting industry participation activities in the project database. Interact with industry partners for hiring events, career fairs, or other industry-related activities, including apprenticeships, internships, and other school-to-work opportunities. Participate in campus activities, serve on College committees, and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A Bachelor's degree required.

*Salary range for the position is based on the funds available in the grant. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an educational or related social services area preferred. Master's degree preferred. Two (2) years of experience in an academic environment, first-hand experience with youth or adult career programming and/or working with first-generation college students, and two (2) years of case management experience working with youth and adults are preferred. Career Development Facilitator certification is also preferred.
