There is some work from home flexibility to be determined by the manager; however, this is not a full-time remote position and requires working in the Nashville, TN office two days per week or as needed. You must live in the Middle TN area and not out of state.
Since 1908, NASBA has served as a forum for the nation's 55 State Boards of Accountancy, which administer the Uniform CPA Examination, license more than 653,000 Certified Public Accountants and regulate the practice of public accountancy in the United States.
NASBA accomplishes its mission of enhancing the effectiveness and advancing the common interests of the Boards of Accountancy by creating innovative avenues for accounting regulators, educators and practitioners alike to address emerging issues relevant to the viability of the accounting profession. NASBA also makes available to member boards a rich portfolio of products and services - all designed to effectively aid Boards of Accountancy in their mission of ensuring public protection.
As an extension of NASBA's core mission, the NASBA Center for the Public Trust (CPT) continues to provide a platform for corporate America, academia and the accounting profession to explore, promote and advance ethical behavior through business and leadership.
Job Summary
NASBA is seeking an experienced communications leader who will drive all NASBA strategic communication initiatives. The VP, Public Relations will develop and execute a thorough forward thinking communication strategy to enhance engagement and visibility that reflects our mission.
As the VP, Public Relations, this position will lead strategic executive thought leadership initiatives, forge strong media relationships, and oversee our internal and external communications infrastructure, including our website and social media platforms.
This role will play a pivotal role in guiding executive communications, curating content that reflects our business priorities and company mission and forward-thinking communications presence.

Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement the overall public relations and communications strategy to align with the organization's mission and goals. Collaborate with internal teams and committees to develop and execute forward-thinking communication strategies that elevate the organization's profile. Ensure crisis communications are addressed with accurate, consistent, and impactful messaging across all platforms. Media Relations & Organization Visibility
Lead the development and dissemination of press releases, ensuring alignment with organizational messaging and strategic goals. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, managing media inquiries and facilitating executive interviews. Identify and secure platforms for executives to share expertise, including speaking engagements, media interviews, and industry publications. Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts to ensure appropriate coverage and accurate representation of the organization. Digital & Online Communications
Responsible for the strategy, content, and operation of the organization's websites and social media platforms. Develop communication pieces for newsletters, blogs and thought leadership pieces. Monitor social media trends and analytics, adjusting strategies to optimize performance. Work with developers and business analysts to execute rule and feature changes. Measurement & Reporting
Track and evaluate the effectiveness of press releases, and other communication initiatives, providing regular reports and insights to leadership via key metrics or key performance indicators. Executive & Internal Communications
Manage executive communications, including speeches, statements, and official correspondence. Develop presentations for the President & CEO and other executive leadership for conferences, meetings, and external events. Prepare training and support documentation as assigned. Develop organizational, issue specific talking points. Budgetary
Responsible for development of annual departmental budget and oversight of expenditures. Supervisory Responsibilities : This position will be responsible for internal and external communications resources, including the staff that support traditional media, social media, website, and digital platforms.
Internal Relationships : This position interacts closely with the President and executive leadership.
External Relationships : This position interacts with executives, volunteers, boards of accountancy, media organizations and trade publications.
Skills and Professional Experience
Skills:
• Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Proven ability to write in a journalistic style that is customary for external publications
• Able to exercise independent judgment and act on it
• Excellent reading comprehension
• Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
• Strong business corporate communications writer with extensive experience writing for executive, media and other external audiences
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Ability to work with subject matter experts and capacity to grasp complex business subjects and effectively translate the material into effective deliverables, required
• Self-starter, working independently and collaboratively, communicating effectively in both written and verbal form, required
Education and Knowledge:
• Degree in communications or related field: English, journalism, or public relations required, Masters degree, preferred
• 8+ years in communications or public relations, preferred
• 8+ years of experience in a senior management role either in-house corporate communications or with a public relations agency, preferred

• Occasional travel required
