As a Manager II, you will report to the District Director of Athletics and work in close collaboration with the Director of Ethics & Compliance and the Executive Director of the Office of Equity.

As the

Manager II - Athletics

, you will

Lead compliance and governance for sports and student-athletes to include but not limited to: interpreting and applying the CIF SF Section and SFUSD Academic Athletic Association California Interscholastic Federation(CIF) San Francisco Section ( AAA) constitution and bylaws; investigating and levying penalties for violations; coordinating the implementation of rules and policies of state-mandated programs relative to interscholastic athletics. Create infrastructure for operational systems and structures for resource management, professional development and training resources, tracking tools and communication templates to strengthen capacity and coordination across Division and strengthen the capacity of all employees to give and receive feedback. Create systems and protocols for onboarding of new coaches that ensure that all hired coaches are onboarded in a timely fashion and have completed all the state and SFUSD requirements. Monitor, update and integrate legal compliance policies, processes, and procedures including but not limited to SFUSD Board Policies, Federal Program Monitoring (FPM) and Title IX as they relates to SFUSD Athletics Programs Create systems and protocols to ensure that all coaches have completed ongoing athletic compliance requirements. Supports the maintenance and administration of SFUSD software supporting student-athlete specific eligibility. Develop and deliver effective training for athletic directors and coaches specific to SFUSD compliance policies. Work with District Legal Office and Title IX Coordinator, SFUSD athletic director(s), School Site athletic directors and school sites administrators to ensure compliance with all aspects of compliance with Title IX, including leading and coordinating investigation of known and/or alleged rules violations, as appropriate. Research best practices for athletic compliance in a K-12 district and stay up to date with all new legal requirements. Assist with general SFUSD Ethics and Compliance Department requirements when needed. Supervise all functions involving competition operations for regular and postseason events. Oversee the management of the athletic department's accounting and budget functions. Supervise the Human Resource (HR) needs for your assigned team members including hiring and onboarding, administering pay, benefits, leave, and other related HR functions; ensuring that all coaches meet the SFUSD, CIF, and CA Ed. Code regulations. Serve as second in command and assist the Commissioner with the supervision and management of all personnel by holding staff accountable towards meeting division short and long-term goals; providing professional development with district staff, including the legal department, on harassment, crisis response, behavioral threat assessment, sexual abuse, and coordinated care approaches. Build a deep understanding of the Division's budget and the District's budget development process to lead preparation of a proposed annual budget for the SFUSD Athletics Office partnering with the Business Services Department as needed. Create infrastructure for operational systems and structures for resource management, professional development and training resources, tracking tools and communication templates to strengthen capacity and coordination across Division and strengthen the capacity of all employees to give and receive feedback. Implement and coordinate programs and policies set by the Board of Manager and CIF; serves as a District liaison to organizations. Serves as an advisor to principals and their staff, community members, and public agencies in the initiation, development, interpretation, and evaluation of the athletics program as an integral part of the total educational program. Identify and implement program and operational improvements that ensure the highest level of customer service for all employees. Develop and maintain relationships with district wide partners including the Instructional LEAD department and, Special Education Department, and others to assist with facilitating our district wide athletic programs. Develop emergency and crisis consultation systems for Athletics in partnership with the department and Divisional Leadership Teams. Evaluates the facilities and environment of the athletics program from an educational viewpoint, to ensure proper function, safety, and sanitary conditions. The strongest candidates will have:

Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to Anti Racism & Authentic Partnership in our process and decisions. Experience demonstrating shared accountability to prioritize service to students & families, with clear focus on the experiences of students and families historically under-served by us: African American ,Latinx, Native American, Pacific Islander, and English Learner students and families; students receiving Special Education Services; and youth in foster care, including honoring the intersection of these identities. Knowledge of and experience with the Constitution and Bylaws for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State, CIF San Francisco Section, and SFUSD Academic Athletic Association. Experience in athletics in some field, as coach, player, or other relevant experience. Or able to articulate an interest in athletics. Understanding of complexity of athletics in large urban K-12 setting Experience with major change management efforts with regard to both operational and communication systems. Evidence of strong conceptual, analytic, organizational and management skills, and demonstrated leadership ability; evidence of the ability to collaborate with diverse individuals. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with district staff and colleagues including strong presentation skills. Ability to work effectively in difficult situations that involve confidential and sensitive matters. Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience facilitating and leading meetings with multiple stakeholders and team members. Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply various policies and rules and be able to articulate those to various groups. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or JD from an accredited college or university. Three (3) years of professional-level athletic administration experience; preferably in law, risk management, human resources, and/or Title IX within a high school or collegiate athletic conference or large K-12 public urban school district.
