We are currently seeking a
Field Supervisor
to support utility forestry operations across diverse environments-from urban neighborhoods to remote forested areas. As a Field Supervisor, your "office" is the great outdoors, where you play a vital role in maintaining safe and reliable power delivery.
In this role, you will serve as a key liaison between utility clients and field crews, ensuring vegetation management practices are carried out safely, efficiently, and in alignment with regulatory standards. You will help keep communities informed about the relationship between trees and power lines, while leading efforts to protect infrastructure and public safety.

Oversight & Training
Responsible for supervising contract Planners, ensuring they are properly trained, certified, and licensed. Performance & Compliance
Accountable for planner effectiveness, productivity, and safe work practices. Must verify timely completion and submission of assigned work. Reporting Deficiencies
Report any deficiencies in planner work to the Owner's Forestry Supervisor and implement corrective actions during non-billable time. Absence & Resignation Notifications
Notify the Owner's Forestry Supervisor or designees about Planner absences and coverage plans. Communicate any Planner or Supervisor resignations promptly. Incident Reporting
Verbally notify the Owner's local Forestry Supervisor and/or Manager Forestry of any personal injuries, accidents, complaints, or property damage caused by Planners. Submit a written report detailing cause and recommend preventative actions as soon as possible. Gap Coverage
May be utilized to fill planning gaps as needed at the appropriate Planner I or Planner II level. Safety & Other Duties
Operate with the highest level of personal and public safety. Daily travel throughout the State of Michigan, with occasional overnight travel (25%). Perform other duties as assigned by ArborMetrics or the client. WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:
Bachelor's or associate degree in forestry, Forest Management, or related field ISA Certified Arborist and Michigan Pesticide Applicator License. Demonstrated leadership and Project Management skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to represent Arbormetrics and its services in a professional and positive manner. Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, the ability to multi-task and attention to detail. Independent decision making and problem-solving skills. Must have solid tree identification skills and the ability to read maps. Must be willing to travel statewide daily, with occasional overnight stay (25% as needed). Must be able to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain. Must have excellent computer skills WHAT WOULD BE AMAZING TO HAVE:
Previous management or employee oversight experience Previous Forester/Arboriculture/Tree Care working experience.
Working Environment
Work with a team and alone; primarily in an outdoor field environment and/or low light conditions; foot patrol of energy corridors in the vicinity of power lines and/or pipelines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including: walking/hiking on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, rocky, sandy, uneven, rough, unstable, steep terrain, hills and slopes, dense vegetation; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, and all types of weather extremes including snow, ice, fog, humidity, and low and high temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions, domestic and wild animals, insects, and poisonous plants. Other working conditions may include: in a vehicle or limited time in an indoor office.
Physical
The employee must have sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; to walk up to 10 miles per day, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make repetitive hand, arm and shoulder movement in the performance of daily duties (e.g., forcefully beat down brush); carry, push and/or pull light to heavy amounts of weight, frequently lift up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs. (sandbags); to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; ability to verbally communicate to exchange information with public; ability to see and hear in normal range with or without correction; operate assigned field equipment, including handheld computer, range finder, fyrake, water backpack, shovel, and traffic cone.
