Executive Director Of Business Intelligence & Analytics The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of the Executive Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics. Reporting to the Vice President for Technology and Innovation and Chief Technology Officer, the Executive Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics is responsible for leading the teams responsible for transforming advancement data into actionable insights that drive strategy, performance, and philanthropic growth across UTFI and affiliated campuses.

This role will provide strategic direction for the design, governance, and delivery of UTFI’s enterprise business intelligence (BI) ecosystem, ensuring that data is trusted, accessible, and actionable.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision:

Develop and execute an enterprise data and analytics strategy aligned with UTFI’s technology roadmap and advancement goals. Serve as the Foundation’s senior leader for all BI and analytics initiatives, shaping how data is used to measure performance, guide donor strategy, and drive organizational outcomes. Partner with the Vice President for Technology & Innovation, Central Services, and campus leadership to define enterprise reporting priorities and ensure analytics directly support fundraising and engagement success.

Enterprise Data Governance & Stewardship:

Oversee the integrity, quality, and governance of advancement data across systems of record, including Salesforce/Kindsight, Microsoft Fabric, and the UTFI Data Warehouse. Collaborate with the AVP of Data Integrity & User Support to maintain consistent data policies, standards, and stewardship practices across the organization. Ensure compliance with institutional, legal, and privacy requirements in all data management and reporting activities.

Analytics Innovation and Enablement:

Lead the development of enterprise dashboards, predictive models, and analytic tools that provide forward-looking insights into donor behavior, campaign performance, and advancement outcomes. Drive the integration of advanced analytics, AI, and data visualization to support continuous improvement and innovation in advancement strategy. Oversee the migration and modernization of data architecture to support scalable analytics, automation, and real-time insights across campuses.

Operational Excellence and Team Leadership:

Provide strategic and operational leadership to the Business Intelligence team and Data Scientist. Foster professional growth through mentoring, training, and leadership development opportunities for BI team members. Define and track performance metrics that measure the effectiveness of advancement programs and operational efficiency.

Collaboration and Executive Engagement:

Serve as a strategic advisor to UTFI campus leadership, providing high-impact data insights for donor stewardship, campaign planning, and strategic decision-making. Partner with vice chancellors, campus advancement teams, and functional leaders to align analytics deliverables with institutional goals. Represent UTFI in UT System-wide data strategy initiatives and professional consortiums focused on analytics and advancement innovation.

Qualifications Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree

8+ years of experience of progressively responsible experience in business intelligence, analytics, or enterprise data strategy within complex organizations

Proven success leading teams responsible for BI development, data modeling, data warehousing, and analytics enablement

Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into strategic recommendations for executive audiences

Expertise in BI and data platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server Suite (SSMS, SSAS, SSIS), Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools

Skilled at building relationships and influencing stakeholders across all levels

Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate data into compelling stories that inform strategy

Commitment to innovation, collaboration, and the advancement of UTFI’s mission through data-driven excellence

A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances.

Note: Candidates holding a graduate degree must have at least 5 years of experience.

Preferred Education And Experience

Master’s degree

Familiarity with advancement, fundraising, or higher-education data models preferred
