The HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC systems and related equipment in both residential and commercial settings. This role involves hands-on technical work, preventive maintenance, and collaboration with facilities and construction teams to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable building operations.
Duties: Including but not limited to:
Diagnose and repair HVAC equipment, including RTUs, splits, heat pumps, furnaces, boilers, mini-splits, make-up air units, and exhaust fans. Fabricate, modify, and repair sheet metal and flexible ductwork; seal and insulate according to specifications. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance such as filter changes, belt replacements, coil cleaning, lubrication, and performance checks. Service and maintain ancillary equipment including air compressors, pumps, VFDs, humidifiers, and ERVs. Work with Building Automation Systems (BAS) to monitor, trend, and adjust setpoints and alarms. Install and connect refrigerant piping, solder joints, and ensure sealed refrigerant circuits. Wire and connect motors, compressors, thermostats, humidity controls, and ventilation fans to control panels and power sources. Troubleshoot and replace defective controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, air/water filters, and electrical wiring. Provide HVAC design consultation and technical input for remodels and new construction projects to ensure proper system integration and performance. Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, refrigerant usage (EPA logs), and service documentation. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Minimum two years of HVAC experience acquired through an accredited apprenticeship program, technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience. HVAC Journeyman's License required; HVAC Master's License or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire required. Valid U.S. driver's license required. Trane automation and building automation system (BAS) experience preferred. Prior HVAC and construction background preferred. Basic electrical knowledge required. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software. Ability to travel to various facilities as needed and operate a company vehicle.
