Summary

The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Shipping Department, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and consistency in all outbound logistics activities. This position oversees shipping staff, including a Materials Handler and CDL driver, and is responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring all deliveries and shipments. The ideal candidate demonstrates steady, dependable leadership with a focus on accountability, employee development, and workflow optimization. Strong ERP knowledge and the ability to identify and resolve inefficiencies are key to success in this role.

Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop team members to promote consistent performance, accountability, and safety awareness.

Recruit, train, and evaluate staff, ensuring cross-training and skill development to support department flexibility.

Oversee and schedule daily shipping activities, including driver dispatch and delivery coordination.

Monitor workflow to ensure on-time shipments, accurate documentation, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

Maintain accurate inventory and shipment records in the company’s ERP system; ensure data integrity and proper system usage by team members.

Collaborate with Production Planning, Purchasing, and Quality to resolve shipping issues and maintain efficient material flow.

Communicate proactively with internal teams, customers, and freight partners to address delays, special requirements, or changes.

Identify and implement improvements to shipping procedures, routing, and material handling for greater efficiency and cost control.

Track and report department metrics including on-time performance, cost per shipment, and error rates.

Maintain compliance with company policies and safety standards; enforce accountability consistently across the team.

Build and sustain positive relationships with internal departments, customers, and logistics partners.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship required.

Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a shipping, logistics, or manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated ability to lead with consistency, fairness, and accountability.

Strong ERP knowledge and experience (inventory tracking, shipment scheduling, reporting, etc.).

Solid understanding of domestic and international freight, including flatbed and less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and shipping-related software systems.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent work experience.

Minimum 2 years of domestic and international freight experience.

Manufacturing industry experience preferred.

Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
