The Associate Director, Sports Programs is responsible for the planning, leadership, and execution of Spurs Sports Academy programming, including camps, clinics, and on-court experiences that serve youth participants, their families, and surrounding communities. This role ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality, impactful programs that promote skill development, coaching education, and community engagement, while upholding the standards and values of Spurs Sports & Entertainment. Reporting to the AVP of Youth Sports, the Associate Director is responsible for translating and executing the department’s strategic plan through measurable actions that strengthen program quality, operational efficiency, and global reach. This position advances the continued growth and innovation of sports programming both locally and internationally by implementing efficient systems, cultivating strong partnerships, and enhancing overall experience for coaches and participants. The Associate Director, Sports Programs plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of Spurs Sports Academy by integrating global partnerships, developing scalable program structures, and advancing the professional growth of coaches and staff to cultivate a culture of championship performance on and off the court. What You’ll Do: Supervisory Responsibilities Provide leadership and direct supervision to the Manager of Camps & Clinics, part-time support staff, and coaching staff through clear expectations, feedback, and professional development aligned with departmental goals. Establish clear performance expectations, conduct regular feedback sessions, and oversee professional development plans for all direct reports. Guide staff in executing the department’s strategic plan, ensuring operational efficiency, program consistency, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment that promotes communication, innovation, and continuous improvement while supporting the recruitment, onboarding, and evaluation of staff and coaches to ensure the selection and retention of high-performing team members. Develop a leadership pipeline within Spurs Sports Academy by mentoring and preparing staff and coaches to contribute to a culture of excellence and teamwork that reflects the organization’s commitment to building championship teams on and off the court. Duties/Responsibilities Coach Management & Development: Supervise and support a team of 50+ part-time coaches by establishing clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and fostering professional growth. Develop and deliver structured training and evaluation plans to strengthen coaching quality and consistency. Cultivate a culture of collaboration, excellence, and integrity that aligns with organizational values and prepares coaches for future leadership roles. Program Execution & Innovation: Lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of youth sports programming, including Summer Camps, Fundamental Camps, Small Group Training, and Private Instruction. Manage the full program lifecycle, from concept development through execution and performance review, ensuring excellence in experience, participation, and measurable outcomes. Pilot and scale innovative programming opportunities that expand engagement with youth and families locally and internationally. Revenue, Budget, and Facility Management: Develop and manage annual and per-program budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals and operational efficiency. Analyze participation data, expenses, and revenue to forecast trends and identify opportunities for sustainable growth. Oversee facility agreements, vendor partnerships, and resource allocation to maximize operational value, sustainability, and participant experience, including expansion into adult and international programming. Community Engagement and Collaboration: Strengthen engagement with families, athletes, and community partners to build loyalty and long-term relationships. Collaborate with internal teams to enhance communication, visibility, and participation. Represent Spurs Sports Academy at community and partner events, promoting inclusion, belonging, and brand alignment across all local and international touchpoints. Marketing and Promotion Alignment: Partner with Marketing, Digital, and Communications teams to align campaigns and storytelling with program goals and brand identity. Provide insight, storytelling content, and data that showcase program impact, coach development, and community engagement. Ensure all promotional materials reflect SSA’s brand standards and messaging across San Antonio, Austin, Laredo, and international markets. Strategic Execution and Global Growth: Execute the department’s strategic plan by leading efficient operations, innovative program development, and global growth initiatives. Contribute to annual planning, performance reporting, and long-term strategies focused on coach development, community impact, and international partnerships. Other duties as assigned Who You Are: Proven experience in leading and managing teams, with a focus on professional development, performance feedback, and culture building. Strong background in youth sports, program operations, or camp/clinic execution across multiple sites or markets. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and comfortable using scheduling, communication, and project management platforms. Previous experience collaborating with marketing or content teams to support program promotion and engagement. Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple programs, prioritize competing deadlines, and execute under pressure. Strong organizational, time management, and customer service skills with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods during camps, clinics, and special events. Capable of lifting and moving up to 50 lbs during event setup and breakdown. Willingness to travel regularly to meetings or program locations across local, regional, and international markets. Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including gyms, outdoor courts, and community spaces, which may involve varying noise levels and weather conditions. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on program schedules.
