Job Title: Structural Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer with a strong focus on mechanical design, specifically in the area of doors, including hinge and latch mechanism design. This role involves working within a conceptual design environment to create complex kinematic solutions and guiding green engineers in structural design.
Responsibilities
Design complex kinematic solutions in a conceptual design environment.
Guide green engineers in structural design, focusing on space vehicle design.
Define structural architecture by identifying and proposing advanced technologies.
Support design processes through trade studies, concept development, and interface development.
Utilize CATIA for part design, assembly design, surface-wireframe, and composites workbench.
Design composites primary and secondary structures.
Form high-temperature materials.
Apply GD&T principles to design tasks.
Essential Skills
Proficient in CATIA and Boeing design processes.
Experience in space vehicle design.
Strong knowledge in metallic design.
Experience with ENOVIA.
Recent experience with Boeing or commercial structures in the last 10 years.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
Experience creating, managing, and running GFEMs and DFEMs.
Familiarity with systems design, fibersim, and mechanical design.
Ability to create simple working FEMs for conceptual design.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with wing, fuselage, vertical tail, and air vehicle door design.
Experience with stringer, frames, and clips design.
Experience in executing trade studies for design solution down-selection.
Ability to work in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
Work Environment
The position requires working onsite at a manufacturing facility from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The role involves collaboration with design, fabrication, assembly, and other key functions within a team-oriented environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00/hr.
