The Department of Ophthalmology at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center supports a large health system providing both primary and tertiary care. Ophthalmology Position
Chief Purpose Of This Position
The Department of Ophthalmology welcomes candidates to apply to this exciting new opportunity for an Ophthalmologist specializing in corneal / refractive surgery. The position is responsible for direct patient care and supervision in three outpatient settings: Main Campus, Richmond V.A. Medical Center, and suburban ASC locations. The department supports a 16-resident ophthalmology training program with a full 5-year ACGME Accreditation. A Physician Practice Group compensation plan provides a competitive, market-based salary. The position will be offered at an academic rank commensurate with qualifications. Responsibilities
Clinical
- Providing high-quality, compassionate patient care through collaborative practice, incorporating trainees into the clinical practice. Teaching
- Teaching medical students, residents, fellows and other trainees in a clinical setting. Research
- Research opportunities available based on training, experience and interest. Other
- Maintain high clinical and ethical standards; adhere to compliance measures; promote collaboration and effective communication; foster high patient and staff satisfaction. Residents and certified ophthalmic medical technicians assist with patient care and ancillary testing. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Board Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology, with Corneal sub-specialty training Eligibility for, or a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills required Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU Salary Range:
