Junior Mid-Level Structural Inspection QC Engineer Location: On Site. Base pay range

Responsibilities
Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Transportation Authority Structures Inspection Manual and procedures to ensure compliance with established guidelines. Conduct quality control reviews of inspection reports, witness and assess field inspections, and perform post-inspection quality control in accordance with the responsibilities specified. Serve as a technical resource by offering guidance on inspection best practices to Transportation Authority inspectors. Develop and support QC inspection process improvements. Generate reports based on inspection findings to support the Program Director, maintenance and engineering teams, and TAMO in prioritizing maintenance and renewal recommendations. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director to support accurate, reliable inspections and documentation of the inspections.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on Structures. Capability to perform QC of structural inspections related to: bridges, tunnels, culverts, stations, fences, retaining walls and shafts, S&I Pits, bus garages, and parking garages; others as requested. Experience in structural inspection testing with ability to identify and recommend applicable nondestructive (NDT) and destructive testing methods. Experience using inspection tools such as the DMeter and other NDT tools such as Dye Penetrant. Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate schedules with onsite structural inspection crews and provide detailed and accurate QC reporting on field inspection tasks and inspection reports. Proposed Professional Engineer (PE) must possess the following certifications: FHWA/NHI 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges; FHWA/NHI 130056 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for PEs; FHWA/NHI 130078 Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges. Proposed Engineer in Training (EIT) must possess the FHWA/NHI-130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges.
Preferred Qualifications
Registered PE is preferred with a minimum of three (3) years of hands-on structural inspection and testing experience on major transit system structures. Knowledge and credentials such as FHWA/NHI 130110 Tunnel Safety Inspection; National Tunnel Inspection Standards (NTIS); TOMIE Manual; SNTI; National Certified Tunnel Inspector (NCTI); Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges. Experience with Transportation Authority bridge and tunnel inspection; ability to prioritize structural asset management strategies including maintenance and renewals. Completion of a 10-hour OSHA safety course.
