Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated

Senior Director of Tax

to join our growing finance team. The role will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company’s tax function including ensuring compliance with tax regulations and maintaining the appropriate analysis and documentation to support corporate’s transfer pricing, tax credits and tax positions. This position will support the US and EU regions and be responsible for interacting with Accounting, External Reporting, External Tax Advisors, FP&A and Treasury. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of tax laws and regulations, particularly within the biotech industry.

Key Responsibilities

Tax compliance and reporting

Prepare quarterly tax provisions for US and EU (VAT for Belgium) and work with the Corporate Controller, External Reporting Group, third‑party tax advisors, and our external auditors to ensure compliance, address technical questions and assist with financial statement footnote disclosures.

Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, including corporate and collaboration tax returns working with third‑party advisors.

Prepare and manage sales and use tax filings required in the US and annual 1099 filings.

Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.

Prepare or work with third‑party advisors around white papers or technical documentation required by auditors related to new tax laws, changes in accounting methods, or inquiries by tax authorities.

Prepare the tax footnotes and numbers for SEC quarterly and annual filings.

Tax planning and strategy

Assist with transfer pricing analysis and documentation to ensure compliance and minimize risk globally.

Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax positions, including maximizing use of NOLs, R&D tax credits and other available credits.

Provide guidance on tax implications of potential business development deals, including licensing, collaboration arrangements, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and international operations.

Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the company, including understanding implications of Pillar 2 and working with advisors to build appropriate reporting, disclosures and filing documentation.

Risk management

Identify and mitigate tax risks through effective internal controls and procedures.

Manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities in the US and EU.

Process improvement

Continuously improve tax processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Implement best practices in tax compliance and reporting.

Collaboration and support

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to provide tax expertise and support.

Decision making

Oversee and manage restructuring of global tax/IP to optimize corporate structure.

Accountable for tax filings in US and EU and other ongoing tax/IP related projects.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or MST preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax, with a focus on the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.

In‑depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.

Experience with tax compliance software and financial systems; preferred experience with SAP.

Experience with international tax issues and transfer pricing.

Familiarity with R&D tax credits and incentives.

Proficiency in using tax research tools and software.

The anticipated base pay range is $216,186 - $283,745 USD.
