Pediatric Cardiologist Advanced Cardiac Therapies and Transplantation / Rank Dependent on Qualifications
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a vibrant and collegial academic environment in a children's hospital ranked as one of the best in the U.S. The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah seeks a Pediatric Cardiologist with expertise in heart failure, cardiac transplantation, and ventricular assist device (VAD) support.
The Pediatric Cardiologist will join the Utah Cardiomyopathy, Heart Failure and Mechanical Support Program (UCHAMP). UCHAMP is housed under the Section of Advanced Cardiac Therapies and Transplantation and provides care to infants and children with cardiomyopathy and heart failure in Utah and surrounding states. The team includes 5 heart failure/transplant-trained faculty, 8 advanced practice providers, 4 pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons, 4 transplant nurse coordinators, 2 transplant pharmacists, and 2 social workers.
Clinical duties include inpatient and outpatient care of children with cardiomyopathy, heart failure due to cardiomyopathy or congenital heart disease, and patients pre- and post- heart transplantation. Clinical work will be conducted at Primary Children\'s Hospital locations in Salt Lake City and Lehi, Utah, and outreach sites. In addition to clinical service, there is opportunity and expectation for academic work, quality improvement, and education. Based on the candidate\'s interest and expertise, a leadership role within a focused sub-specialty program (such as VAD, single ventricle care, or anti-coagulation) may be considered, with dedicated time for leadership efforts.
Established in 1991, the heart failure and transplant program has grown, performing approximately 15 transplants and 15 VADs per year. Outcomes exceed national benchmarks for waitlist and post-transplant care.
Qualifications:
Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology, with focused training and expertise in Heart Failure, Cardiomyopathy and Transplant. A fourth year of additional training in Pediatric Heart Failure is required. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure Track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Compensation and Benefits:
