Patient Services Specialist 3.

WORK SCHEDULE

100% FTE

Mondays- Fridays

7:30am- 4:00pm

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Breast Surgery Clinic at Meridian Pavilion offers thorough and concise evaluations of breast abnormalities and screening plans for people at higher-than-average risk for breast cancer.

We treat benign breast problems, as well as breast cancer, and work with each patient to offer personalized treatment plans based on the type and stage of the disease, genetics, life circumstances and other factors unique to the individual.

Our care team consists of nationally recognized healthcare professionals with extensive clinical knowledge and surgical expertise to diagnose and treat breast disease and breast cancer.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Processes incoming referrals for the UW Medicine Breast Center including clinic visits and imaging requests

Assist with developing and maintaining list of diagnosis treated by provider

Schedules patient appointments

Obtains and verifying demographic and financial information

Processes patient paperwork

Triages patient telephone calls to clinical staff

May provide clinic charges for visit types, procedures, and surgeries to patients or prospective patients to the clinic

Contacts review organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met before patients enter the system such as pre-authorization and referrals; present necessary medical information such as history, diagnosis, prognosis, and length of stay prior to admissions; provide specific medical information to financial services to maximize reimbursement to the hospital and physicians

Coordinates patient entry into and through the health care systems

Obtain all necessary medical records, diagnostic studies, pathology items, etc. that are needed for patient care

Coordinating follow-up diagnostic work-ups such as MRI’s, biopsies, etc.

Schedule patient appointments by following the appropriate guidelines by clinic, department and physician

Enter directly into appointment system or triage to appropriate person

Provides scheduling options for both Spine Center and UWMC Neurological Surgery locations

Other duties as requested

REQUIREMENTS

High School graduation or equivalent

AND two years' experience as Patient Services Specialist 2

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications

$25.81 hourly
