Commercial Property Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join a growing team managing a diverse portfolio of retail and office properties. In this pivotal role, you will be the first in-house accounting professional, responsible for overseeing financial processes across approximately 20 properties. Job Details
Base Salary: $90,000–$100,000 (depending on experience)
Bonus: Target 5% annual discretionary bonus, based on individual and company performance
Benefits: Healthcare, Dental, Vision, 401(k)
Standard Hours: 8:30am–5:00pm (flexible start/end times)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid 4 days in-office, 1 day remote
Responsibilities
Prepare monthly financial statements and reconciliations (CAM, bank, A/R, balance sheet)
Manage tenant accounting, including rents, ledgers, delinquencies, and billbacks (CAM, utilities, percentage rent)
Review general ledger activity, P&L statements, and post journal entries
Partner with property management on budgets, reporting, and lease interpretation (CAM, percentage rent, expense pass-throughs)
Recommend and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
3 to 5 years of experience with general ledger and financial statement preparation in a commercial real estate environment
Proficiency with Yardi or similar property management/accounting software
Excellent communication skills for liaising with tenants and internal teams
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related Office tools
Knowledge of commercial retail lease language, including percentage rent and CAM provisions
Other Requirements
Capacity to manage multiple properties within a portfolio
Willingness to participate in ongoing training and industry updates as needed
