The VP, SBA/USDA Lending works with other members of the management team and in conjunction with the Board to develop and establish strategic objectives and policies for the Credit Union with respect to the SBA/USDA programs. The VP develops and implements a comprehensive internal and external marketing plan for SBA/USDA designed to increase revenues and profits. The VP plans, directs, or coordinates operational activities at the highest level of management with the help of executive and staff managers, and is responsible for the overall success and long-term viability of the credit union.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*** Responsible for the overall business development and revenue generation efforts for the SBA/USDA programs.* Through indirect oversight, responsible for non-traditional credit union products such as retail investments and secondary market mortgages.* Provides leadership to ensure the Credit union's mission and core values are practiced by other employees.* Motivates and leads other business development officers; attracts, recruits and retains required members of the sales team.* Collaborates with other members of the management team to develop and implement plans for SBA/USDA programs related to the Credit union's strategic goals.* Represents the Credit union with clients, directors, shareholders, vendors, and federal and state agencies as required.* Maintains a prominent presence in the activities of the community as the SBA leader of the credit union and primary representative and spokesman for the organization on such matters.* Always maintains personal conduct that will be a positive reflection on the credit union and all those associated with it.* Carries out other projects and responsibilities as may be added at the Board's discretion.* Directs, plans, or implements policies, objectives, or activities to maximize returns on investments, or to increase productivity for the SBA/USDA programs.* Directs or coordinates activities concerned with production, pricing, sales, or distribution of SBA/USDA products.* Establishes departmental responsibilities and coordinates functions among departments and sites.* Reviews loan applications and analyzes credit information to assess customer's credit worthiness.* Conducts in-depth analysis of balance sheets and profit and loss statements; uses computer spreadsheet software for evaluation; reviews real estate appraisals, assesses liquidity, quality of management market position, and overall business climate to estimate future profitability of customer.* Prepares reports on large loan applications and presents these to Loan Committee(s) with recommendations; participates in Loan Committee(s) decision making; issues loan approvals within defined limits.* Monitors payment practices to protect credit union from bad debts; has responsibility for collections.* Provides advice and guidance to loan officers regarding loan policies and procedures, credit analysis, financial statement evaluation, and credit investigations.* Maintains relationships with key customers through personal involvement with sales initiatives, community activity and general business contacts.* Carries out various supervisory activities, including training performance management, compensation, promotions, terminations and other activities.* Implements and monitors referral process with CSMs and commercial lending officers**EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:*** Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, commerce, finance or other related field, with extensive background in financial institution management, preferably at the senior management level.* 10 years of an SBA management level position in the financial industry is required.* 10 years of banking and commercial lending experience.* Significant background in credit administration, as well as in federal and state institution regulations* Specialization in a particular functional area or service is preferred, either through scientific university training in that area and/or through previous experience.* Excellent ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, draw conclusions, and interpret government regulations and legal documents.* Minimal travel within the credit union's market areas and to credit union related meetings* Ongoing study of economic conditions and regulatory environment required* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required for interaction with all constituents, both internally and externally* Computer skills must specifically include common office applications**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:**To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. All employees must be able to communicate face to face or through technology with or without reasonable accommodation. Employee will be in an office environment (well-lighted, heated, and air-conditioned) typically stationed at a desk or table. Employee will be asked to sit and stand for various increments of time, and to lift/push up 10 lbs. Clerical office duties on various forms of technology are required.
