Temple Adath Yeshurun (TAY) is a Reform Jewish congregation serving Manchester and the surrounding communities. We strive to create a warm and supportive atmosphere that respects diversity and promotes the spiritual fulfillment and well‑being of our congregants. Our mission is to meet members' spiritual and religious needs, foster Jewish life, culture, and values through educational programs, and encourage social interaction. We also practice social responsibility within our communities (tikkun olam) and engage in advocacy on issues affecting Jews, while providing a home for members' life‑cycle events.

Role Description

Temple Adath Yeshurun seeks an energetic, creative, and organized professional to serve as our Administrator / Engagement Specialist. This hybrid role combines administrative management with community engagement to help strengthen connections among current members, welcome new ones, and ensure the smooth operation of Temple life.

• Administrative component: managing day‑to‑day operations of the Temple, including communications, scheduling, database management, and coordination with congregants, staff, vendors, and community partners.

• Engagement aspect: member relations, administrative and logistical support for Temple programs, marketing, and event coordination by working closely with the Rabbi, Board of Directors, and volunteers to enhance participation and strengthen our sense of community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for congregants and visitors.
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and inquiries with warmth and professionalism.
  • Manage Temple communications, publications, & publicity (in partnership with Board & committees).
  • Collaborate with the Rabbi, Board of Directors, and committees to support programming & initiatives.
  • Build and nurture relationships with current and prospective members.
  • Partner with Temple leaders to strengthen membership retention and engagement.
  • Maintain the Temple calendar and coordinate facility usage.
  • Provide administrative support to the Rabbi, school staff, and congregational leaders.
  • Oversee incoming and outgoing mail and general office operations.
  • Coordinate logistics and on‑site support for services, holidays, lifecycle events, and programs.
  • Maintain and update the congregant database for accuracy and functionality.
  • Assist with a variety of projects and initiatives as needs arise to support Temple life.

Qualifications

  • Strong administrative skills, organization and multitasking, and high motivation, proactivity, and self‑starter qualities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and a professional demeanor.
  • Experience in event coordination and community engagement or a similar role within a religious or cultural organization is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, board members, and volunteers.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn about Jewish customs, traditions, and community values.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
  • Experience with email marketing tools (Constant Contact, Mailchimp, Marketo) and creating/editing digital content using Canva, Adobe Express, Photoshop, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with website and content management platforms (WordPress, Wix) and social media platforms; knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 is a plus.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and at least two years of relevant administrative experience.

This hourly position is expected to average 32–40 hours per week, with some flexibility in scheduling, particularly around Temple events and holidays. Compensation is $20–$28 per hour, commensurate with experience.
