Key Responsibilities

  • Greet customers, receive food orders, repeat orders, charge the appropriate price, receive the correct amount tendered by customers and provide the correct change for each transaction.
  • Process gift card transactions requested by customers.
  • Stay familiar with the restaurant’s menu and pricing.
  • Interact with guests in a friendly, fast manner.
  • Correct customer orders quickly and accurately.
  • Identify and respond to counterfeit money.
  • Verify age prior to serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Ensure all customers receive complete satisfaction.
  • Wear a neat, clean uniform and maintain personal hygiene.
  • Keep the work area clean and tidy at all times.
  • Maintain and clean used equipment.
  • Complete in‑service training, attend required sessions, and adhere to uniform and dress-code policies.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support the mission, values, and vision of California Fish Grill.
  • Cooperate with coworkers and implement safety procedures, including fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all guest data, including credit card information.
  • Comply with all laws and company policies to provide a harassment‑free workplace.
  • Participate in teamwork, working collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Use tactful communication in sensitive situations.
  • Follow up on complaints or concerns with supervisors, coworkers, or guests.
  • Promote positive public relations with the community and guests.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 1–2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Prior experience as a cashier or in a food service role.
  • Valid ServSafe® or other approved Food Handler certification.
  • High level of integrity and honesty.

Working Conditions

  • Restaurant environment; may be required to work beyond regular hours.
  • Frequent standing, reaching, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Ability to maintain composure in a fast‑paced environment.
