AD AGENCY ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT
The Accounting Assistant at Russell Herder ensures highly efficient and effective accounting and financial best practices. Demonstrates a solid background in agency financial systems, project cost accounting, client billing, accounts payable and general accounting functions. Reporting to the RH Controller, comprises a team handling day‑to‑day financial activities, ensuring sound and reliable accounting practices are adhered to, and timely and accurate financial information.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains accounts receivable reports including but not limited to monthly revenue, open invoices, and aging reports
- Monitors accounts payable, and posts vendor invoices into accounting system
- Interacts with vendors and account managers when processing a resolution of account discrepancies
- Receives credit card receipts and reconciles against corporate credit cards
- Maintains accounting department files and records
- Enters information into accounting data entry system
- Assists with month‑end closing journal entries and runs monthly reports as required
- Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and reviewing payables with executive team
- Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
- Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Assists in preparing invoices
- Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping financial and benefit information confidential
Qualifications/ Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong preference to have ad agency or professional services firm experience
- Minimum Associate Accounting degree, and 2-5 years accounting experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word; experience with Workamajig or other project management software is a plus
- Acute attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Commitment to excellence and high standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
