Our client, a well-established professional design firm, is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Accounting / Business Manager to oversee daily financial operations and office administration. Position Summary
The Accounting / Business Manager will manage all aspects of the firm’s financial operations, including accounting, billing, payroll, and administrative processes. This role reports directly to senior leadership and serves as the main liaison for all administrative and operational matters. The ideal candidate has both hands-on accounting experience and the ability to improve systems, streamline processes, and support organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, receivable, billing, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Manage cash flow, forecasting, and budgeting in collaboration with firm leadership and external CPA.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports; coordinate with the CPA on tax filings.
- Supervise and execute bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accurate benefits and tax remittances.
- Maintain the general ledger, process banking transactions, and monitor project-based financials.
- Manage client invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
- Support HR-related administrative tasks such as onboarding, benefits coordination, and compliance documentation.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Serve as a trusted partner to leadership on business and financial decisions.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of accounting experience; prior experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (or equivalent experience).
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Deltek, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
Salary: $75,000 – $95,000, commensurate with experience.
