Design / Production Assistant

Castlewood Apparel is seeking a Design / Production Assistant to join our Men’s and Women’s Activewear team. This position reports to the Design Director and supports the entire Design Team, with potential growth into a full design role.

Production Responsibilities

• Evaluate all lab dips, fabric qualities, print patterns and trims collaborating with the design team as needed and communicate all comments to the factories.
• Prepare lab dip submits to send to buyers and follow up with them.
• Track and follow up with the factories on all rejected submits.
• Keep electronic and physical records of production approvals by season.
• Organize and send packages with fabrics and trim qualities to factories.
• Receive and distribute incoming packages from factories.

Design Responsibilities

• Research and development for new design inspiration.
• Work with Design Director and Senior designers in creating designs and color stories.
• Assist in creating and updating CADs and tech packs as needed.
• Create selling tools e.g. color cards and swatch cards.
• Work with factories on new fabric development for sampling.

Knowledge, Skills, And Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years fashion industry experience in design.
• Highly skilled to evaluate lab dips and fabric qualities with good judgement.
• Able to multi-task and switch gears as needed.
• Must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and MS Suite.
• Highly organized, great communication skills, detail‑oriented.
• Garment construction knowledge.
• Must be a team player, open to taking direction, and able to work well under pressure.
• Portfolio required.

Monday to Thursday on‑site NYC, remote on Friday.

Salary: $65,000/year.
