  • Schedule:

    • Monday-Thursday: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM (on-site with night call)

    • Friday-Sunday: 24-hour remote call coverage

  • Type: Full-time (1.0 FTE)

Position Overview

A busy Outpatient Chemotherapy and Infusion Center in Oxnard, California is seeking a Hematologist/Oncologist for full-time locums coverage. This is a solo provider role supported by an experienced mid-level provider and clinical team. The position focuses on outpatient services only - no inpatient consults or rounding required.

The physician will provide comprehensive Hematology and Oncology care, including diagnosis, staging, treatment, and symptom management, while overseeing Infusion Center operations.

Practice Details

  • Setting: Outpatient Clinic

  • FTE: 1.0

  • Duties Include:

    • Diagnosis, staging, and treatment of Hematology/Oncology patients

    • Oversight of Oncology/Hematology clinic and Infusion Center

    • Symptom management and precision medicine application

    • On-site supervision during infusions

  • Infusion Services Include:

    • Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Blood/Platelet Transfusions

    • Hormone and Antibiotic Therapy

    • Rheumatoid Arthritis Injections

    • Therapeutic Phlebotomies

  • Average Daily Census: 15-21 patients (shared between MD and NP; 75% on MD schedule)

  • Call: 24/7 coverage each week ( 5 calls per day; remote only)

Technology / Systems

  • Clinic EMR: iKnowmed

  • Infusion EMR: Cerner

Support Staff

  • 1 Clinic RN

  • 2 Medical Assistants

  • 2 Front Office Clerks

  • 1 Quality Analyst/Billing

  • 3 Infusion RNs

  • 1 NP (M-F 8a-5p; covers infusions Fridays and occasional Friday appointments)

Requirements

  • Board Certification: Hematology and Oncology - Preferred

    • Will consider Board Eligible or Oncology OR Hematology certified physicians

  • License: Active California State License - Required

  • Fellowship: Medical Oncology Fellowship - Required

  • Certifications:

    • CA DEA - Required

    • BLS & ACLS - Required

  • Experience: Prior outpatient hematology/oncology and infusion oversight preferred
