The Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dynamic Director of Membership to lead efforts in growing and sustaining one of the region’s most influential business networks. The Director of Membership works under the direction of the Chamber President with Chamber Staff and volunteer stakeholders to maintain member relationships and build new relationships. This role combines sales, strategy, and community engagement — ideal for a driven professional who enjoys connecting with business leaders, developing partnerships, and promoting economic growth across the Muskegon Lakeshore.

Key Job Responsibilities

Drive membership growth and retention through proactive outreach, community networking, and engagement with business owners and decision-makers.

Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective members through excellent communication and customer service.

Collaborate with Chamber staff and volunteer leaders to enhance member value through innovative benefits, programs, and events.

Represent the Chamber at key community events and business gatherings, serving as a visible ambassador for regional economic vitality.

Use data, technology, and creativity to track performance, improve processes, and deliver measurable results.

Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and collaboration in all Chamber and community affairs.

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

Proven success in sales, business development, or account management, preferably in a B2B or membership-based organization.

A strong professional presence and the ability to engage and influence executive‑level decision‑makers.

Deep understanding or established network within the Muskegon Lakeshore business community is a strong advantage.

Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.

Highly organized, self‑motivated, and results‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and social media for business engagement.

Analytical and financially literate, with the ability to measure and report outcomes.

This is a full‑time, salaried position with benefits.
