ACCOUNTANT I (SPECIALIST) – California Department of State Hospitals
Job Summary This is a permanent, full‑time position located in Napa County. The Accountant I (Specialist) reports to the Accounting Officer (Supervisor) and performs semi‑professional accounting work, maintaining accounts and records for specialized agency activities, departmental systems, and central fiscal control. The role includes maintaining a portion of an accounting function for the State department (e.g., accounts payable/receivable, cash disbursements) and performing related tasks.
Pay Range Base pay: $3,934.00 – $4,923.00 per annum. Additional compensation may be earned based on skills and experience. Job code: JC‑497776.
Eligibility Requirements

Responsibilities
Perform semi‑professional accounting work for the department’s specialized accounting functions.
Maintain accounts and records for the department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, and other related tasks.
Ensure compliance with state accounting policies and procedures.
Collaborate with the Accounting Officer and other finance staff to support departmental financial operations.
Provide accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.
Qualifications
High level of motivation, goal orientation, and effective communication and leadership skills.
Experience in accounting and finance functions. (Specify any required degrees or certifications if applicable.)
Must meet all eligibility and examination requirements listed above.
