Investment Analyst
to join and work in our Newport Beach, CA office. The ideal candidate will be a core contributor to the firm’s investment operations, portfolio management, and research processes, supporting our team in delivering exceptional outcomes for ultra-high-net-worth families. This role provides a unique opportunity to work directly with senior advisors and gain exposure across a wide range of investment, trading and operational responsibilities. We are looking for a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, collaborative environment and is passionate about investment management and helping clients. With some experience, the role is also expected to look at investment processes critically and seek to build scalable, novel solutions that serve as a cornerstone to a growing and best-in-class wealth management firm. Responsibilities
Trade and Portfolio Management Develop firmwide trading and rebalancing process from rebalance calculations to trade review sets to trade reconciliation. This process can be developed with current external tools or through the creation of internal tools/software/processes or adoption of external tools/software/processes. Prepare and execute trade instructions for advisor review and approval (e.g., capital calls, rebalancing, billing cash raises). Review cash flows across client accounts and enhance cash management Conduct trade reconciliations across portfolio accounting system (Addepar) and custodians (Fidelity and Schwab) Perform annual tax-loss harvesting (TLH) replacement security analysis. Raise cash and monitor subscription readiness for alternative investments Client Onboarding & Investment Analysis Develop and maintain client communication materials that educate Flatrock clients and prospects Perform tax ratio analysis and cash flow modeling for prospective clients, including federal and state-level tax implications. Request and analyze transition reports from independent managers Process and summarize client statements for onboarding Monitoring, Reporting & Data Management Manage client reporting functions and ensure data consistency across internal systems and external communication. Develop systematic and scalable process/workflow to update private markets holdings across data platforms and systems. Monitor client accounts across a wide variety of metrics Assist with quarterly/annual data updates across various client facing materials. Build new reporting templates that effectively frame the market environment, portfolio performance, and asset allocation. Investment Research Draft research summaries, charts, and presentations for investment committee meetings and blog posts (e.g., August 2024, March 2025). Create and maintain composite performance views across client portfolios, including growth and private strategies. Coordinate due diligence efforts for public and private investments, including annual manager reviews and PME analyses. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or STEM field. Computer Science minor preferred. 0–2 years of experience in investment analysis, portfolio operations, or a related role (RIA or investment firm experience preferred). Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Excel, VBA, PowerPoint; time series analysis. Familiarity with coding languages like Python a plus. Experience with AI tools for investment analysis or operational automation Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Demonstrated aptitude for analyzing investment monitoring, operations, and valuation processes, with interest in developing innovative internal solutions using AI. Highly motivated self-starter with a strong attention to detail, commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.
