Role Overview As the Senior Principal Data Architect, you will lead the architecture design and development of end-to-end Finance infrastructure and capabilities. You will be responsible for the technology architecture of all finance systems, covering Billing, Financial Planning, Accounting, Settlement, Treasury, and Reporting and Analytics. You will collaborate with senior leaders across the organization to align finance technology architectural design with business objectives and customer needs. You will also drive the modernization of the finance infrastructure, leveraging cloud, data, and automation technologies to optimize performance, scalability, and security.

Responsibilities

Lead architecture design and development for Finance systems and applications.

Build scalable, secure, and resilient architecture aligned with business objectives; establish technical strategies and roadmaps; partner across the enterprise to drive standards and frameworks.

Drive modernization of the finance technology portfolio using cloud, data, and automation to enhance customer experience, operational efficiency, and business agility; perform architecture and cost analysis for internal, hybrid, and public cloud environments.

Collaborate with engineering, data, application, and operations teams to meet performance, security, and operational needs; work with finance stakeholders to understand requirements and provide technical thought leadership.

Identify and implement new architectural patterns and methodologies to drive innovation and cost-efficiency.

Drive architectural design for dependent services, service interactions, and policies; simplify and improve cost/benefit of architecture strategies.

Consult across teams to identify synergies and reuse opportunities; guide engineering on high-level and low-level designs.

Contribute to and design holistic platform security posture, including risk identification and mitigation plans.

Stay informed on emerging trends and incorporate Finance industry best practices to keep Mastercard advancing with industry developments.

All About You

Experience leading large global projects, including architecting, estimating, planning, implementing, operating, and talent selection across geographies.

Extensive experience with data lifecycle management (ingestion, ETL, modeling, governance) in highly regulated environments.

Deep understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data lake architectures, tools, and technologies.

Thought leadership with a track record of enabling business through technical decisions; ability to articulate architecture patterns to executive and stakeholder audiences.

Design for resilience with observability, throttling, redundancy, and event-driven processing.

Ability to develop and evangelize reference architecture and engineering principles from the outset.

Skills to drive trade-off discussions to set development capacity based on value drivers (regulatory, security, new business, market parity, technical debt).

Experience in automating across multiple business areas and guiding best methods and tools.

Performance engineering to ensure applications scale and perform under varying traffic.

Ability to evaluate practices, metrics, and roles to optimize SDLC methodologies and automate processes to improve lead time and quality.

Experience with architecture and cost analysis for internal, hybrid, and public cloud environments.

Qualifications

Advanced degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

15+ years of engineering experience in software, data, or related field.

Prior experience in financial systems (e.g., Oracle Financials, Oracle Fusion Cloud, Hyperion) with experience integrating into broader data ecosystems is a plus.

Atlanta, Georgia: $200,000 - $320,000 USD

Miami, Florida: $200,000 - $320,000 USD

New York City, New York: $240,000 - $384,000 USD

Purchase, New York: $230,000 - $368,000 USD
