PACU RN Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
Active New Mexico RN license or Compact state RN license
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA)
Minimum 1 year of recent PACU nurse or surgical services RN experience
Strong communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Ability to float to other surgical services units as needed
PACU Nurse Responsibilities
Coordinate and deliver patient care for post-anesthesia patients of all ages
Monitor patient recovery and respond to emergencies or changes in condition
Provide quality, efficient, and safe care in accordance with PACU unit standards
Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare staff
Maintain a clean, safe, and smoke-free clinical environment
Manage crisis situations and adapt to unexpected changes in schedule
Perform physical tasks such as positioning, transferring patients, and operating medical equipment
