About The Position Job Title: Interventional Rad Tech Profession: Interventional Radiology Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: AM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 2 years of IR/Cath Lab experience License: ARRT Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Body (trauma) and Neuro (Stroke) experience required - Epic experience preferred - Level I Trauma Center experience preferred Description: The Interventional Rad Technologist performs interventional radiology procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. Essential functions include performing high-quality IR procedures and adhering to established standards and procedures. Effective communication with patients is crucial, utilizing techniques to ensure correct exams are performed and to establish rapport. The technologist prepares patients and the procedure area by positioning patients and adjusting equipment. Adherence to safety requirements, infection control, and radiation policies is mandatory. Maintaining equipment and work area cleanliness is also required. The technologist screens individuals according to approved policies to ensure safety. Documentation is essential, including maintaining requisition/charts, patient history, and consent forms. Maintaining accurate medical imaging records is necessary for timely interpretation. Key success factors include the ability to perform high-quality procedures in a timely manner and explaining procedures to patients effectively. The ability to work independently and maintain professionalism under stress is highly valued. Experience with administering first aid and using emergency equipment is crucial. Ensuring customer satisfaction through efficient service and maintaining knowledge of appropriate care for various age groups is expected. Serving as a preceptor to train new team members on services and initiatives is also a part of the role. Availability to take on-call responsibilities when required is necessary.
