Accounts Payable Specialist Job Responsibilities: Manage payments and control expenses by accurately receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices. Ensure accuracy in processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances. Allocate expenses to appropriate accounts and cost centers through detailed analysis of invoice and expense reports. Facilitate vendor payments by monitoring discount opportunities, verifying federal ID numbers, scheduling and preparing checks, and resolving any discrepancies in purchase orders, contracts, invoices, or payments. Ensure the organization receives credit for outstanding memos. Issue stop-payments or amend purchase orders as necessary. Process employee reimbursements by verifying expense reports and advance requests; prepare checks promptly. Maintain accurate accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions. Reconcile vendor accounts by reviewing monthly statements and related transactions. Maintain historical records efficiently by microfilming and filing documents. Disburse petty cash while accurately recording entries and verifying documentation. Report sales taxes by calculating requirements based on paid invoices. Protect the organization’s value by ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information. Enhance job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and professional development.
