Role Overview
You will create engaging, consumer-led content for Metagenics’ social media channels. This role produces high-quality, native content that drives brand awareness, engagement, and conversion. Working closely with the content, brand and digital teams, the Consumer Content Specialist turns brand messages into compelling storytelling moments that fit the format, tone, and trends of each social platform. Key Responsibilities
Content Creation. Produce short-form and visual content, including video, imagery, and written formats, optimized for social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and emerging platforms. Native Platform Execution. Create channel-first content using native tools such as Canva, CapCut, and in-app editing features. Ensure every piece feels natural and high-performing within its platform environment. Creative Concepting. Ideate and execute content concepts aligned with campaigns, new product launches, and brand activations. Translate marketing priorities into relatable, thumb-stopping consumer storytelling. Trend Spotting & Experimentation. Stay ahead of social and cultural trends, identifying emerging formats, hashtags, and conversation topics to test and adopt. Quickly adapt creative output based on performance and audience response. Collaboration & Partnering. Work closely with agency partners, freelancers, and Upwork creators to design or enhance content that extends beyond internal production capabilities. UGC & Creator Content Repurposing. Repackage user-generated and influencer content into new, high-performing formats for social and digital amplification. Optimization & Best Practices. Apply best-practice optimisation techniques (tagging, collaboration, hashtags, captions) to maximise exposure and engagement. Content for Performance. Produce content that supports both organic storytelling and paid media amplification, balancing creativity with conversion intent. Continuous Improvement. Analyze what works, pivot quickly, and refine creative direction to maximise content effectiveness. Creation & management of the content calendar. Ensure creative types are spread, seasonality is considered, and business priorities are met. Social listening for brand/industry sentiment checks. (Could be an expansion of trendspotting.) Experience/Training/Education
Basic Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field required. 2–4 years’ experience in hands-on social media content creation, ideally within a brand or creative agency. Proven ability to produce video and visual content using native tools such as Canva, CapCut, and in-app editors. Strong understanding of platform nuances and best practices for Reels, TikTok, carousels, and stories. Ability to ideate and produce high-output content quickly and independently. Experience managing multiple content formats including video, imagery, and written captions. Eye for design, composition, and storytelling that resonates with consumers. Confident using social scheduling and analytics tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite, Later, Sprout Social). Photography or advanced video production skills are a plus. Proficiency in copywriting is essential. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Knowledge of content optimization techniques for reach and engagement. Collaborative mindset with ability to work closely with agencies, freelancers, and internal teams. Ability to move with speed and pivot. There is a need for agility to capitalize on short-term opportunities, changing business needs and results. Experience in health, wellness, or lifestyle brands is highly desirable. Understanding of paid social principles and how creative supports conversion. Familiarity with AI or automation tools for social content creation. Native to social media culture. Understands what makes people stop, share, and engage. Creative, fast-moving, and hands-on in content production. Curious about emerging trends and new tools. Comfortable experimenting with ideas and learning from data. The current range for this hybrid position (3 days/week in-office) based in Hudson County, New Jersey is $100,000/yr to $115,000/yr. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
