The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000. Position Summary The Riley laboratory consists of a dynamic group of synthetic medicinal chemists and pharmacologists focused on the synthesis and evaluation of natural product-inspired compounds for the treatment of pain and addiction. Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Characterize small molecules using in vitro receptor assays and/or chemical techniques (e.g., NMR, MS). Design, synthesize, and purify small molecules. Keep accurate records of experiments suitable for writing manuscripts and grant proposals. Prepare written manuscripts, operating procedures, and patent applications. Participate in weekly group meeting discussions and presentations. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Assist in the maintenance of laboratory supplies and instrumentation. Comply with University & Department safety policies. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications PhD in chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, chemical biology, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience conducting assays for GPCR and/or ion channels. Previous experience in planning and conducting complex, multi-step organic synthesis. Previous publications in the field of medicinal chemistry.
