Overview
UL Solutions is hiring a Laboratory Supervisor to lead an engineering team at our Atlanta laboratory. Responsibilities
Supervises the day-to-day delivery of high-quality testing services. Monitors daily productivity and quality of work, allocates resources as required and troubleshoots/escalates problems as necessary. Schedules, assigns, reviews and coordinates workflow to ensure proper utilization and training of lab staff, in accordance with regulatory and organizational policy, accreditation/compliance requirements. Provides input into the annual budgetary goals, capital expenditure budget for lab equipment and tactical plans for the assigned lab team. Contributes to preparing instructions for test methods, procedures, quality control and maintenance procedures. Examines test samples and test performance, and provides input regarding issues with test/data sheets. Operates machines and lab equipment; may perform routine maintenance of designated test equipment and laboratory area. Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. Under supervision, manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, assisting in hiring and ensuring that policies are understood and adhered to. Reads and follows the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follows all physical and digital security practices. Other duties as directed. Qualifications
Higher secondary education (equivalent to HS Diploma) Strong written and verbal communication skills. Speaks credibly in area of own expertise and can communicate technical information in non-technical ways. Able to build and maintain good working relationships and coach/train others. Ability to develop and present training materials using a variety of methods (group presentations, video, etc.). Ability to analyze data and trends, and draw useful conclusions; strong customer focus and customer service skills. Understands the impact of changes to requirements, and can communicate the impact to the test method. About Us
