Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) - Travel Location: Des Moines, IA Scheduled Hours : 36 Key Responsibilities
Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in accordance with established standards and policies. Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions, including vital signs, ventilator settings, IV infusions, and other critical parameters. Administer medications, treatments, and life-support interventions as prescribed. Collaborate closely with pediatric intensivists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals in developing and implementing individualized care plans. Operate and troubleshoot complex medical equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and monitors. Provide emotional support, education, and communication to patients’ families regarding treatment plans and prognosis. Respond effectively to medical emergencies, codes, and rapid changes in patient condition. Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records and documentation. Ensure compliance with infection control, patient safety, and hospital quality standards. Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
