Overview

The VP, Business Development / Investor Relations (BD/IR) role supports the existing business and growth objectives of Energy Infrastructure Credit (EIC), a multi-billion-dollar investment platform which is a strategic initiative of Nuveen. The primary objective is to position the business to meet growing investor demand for infrastructure private credit opportunities. The role supports business development efforts, investment product rollouts, and the co-investment syndication process. Experience in private credit alternative investment strategies is preferred, with knowledge of sustainable and/or traditional energy or power being a plus.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Support the EIC Investment Strategist in partnering with Nuveen distribution for business development activities related to the investment strategies of EIC, including attending potential investor meetings and drafting education and marketing presentation materials.

Respond promptly to existing and potential investor information requests and LP communications, e.g., RFPs, DDQ documents, quarterly portfolio reports for investors.

Support the EIC co-investment process by collaborating with the EIC Investment Strategist and Nuveen distribution on business development for co-investment syndication, tracking outreach and Q&A, and working with Nuveen product, legal, and client services on transaction processes and documentation. Familiarity with co-investment syndication and client access structures is necessary.

Collaborate with the EIC investment team, Investment Strategist, and VP IR on external materials, gathering information and preparing investor materials in support of fundraising and the co-investment process, investment updates, market updates, and quarterly investor reports.

Track industry and investment trends in sustainable energy and broader energy/power markets and assess the competitive landscape to identify new opportunities for EIC.

Participate in client or prospective client calls and presentations to support the EIC Investment Strategist, Nuveen distribution, and institutional clients.

Experience with vehicles to access alternative investments (e.g., funds, fund of one, SMA, Rate Note Feeder).

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with general supervision.

Demonstrated team orientation and enthusiasm for building a leading investment platform with colleagues.

Work Experience

3+ Years Required; 5+ Years Preferred

Career Level 7IC

Required Experience

3+ years of direct experience at an asset manager, insurance company or ratings agency.

3+ years of direct experience with alternatives, structured credit or private debt products.

Familiarity with legal documentation of private funds, co-investments, and other private market structures such as SMAs, Fund of One.

Business, Economics, or related degree.

Preferred Experience

Advanced degree in business, law, math or engineering.

CFA, FRM or CAIA designation(s).

10+ years of direct experience at an asset manager, insurance company or ratings agency.

Familiarity with regulatory capital considerations across the United States (NAIC), United Kingdom, Europe (Solvency II), Bermuda and local regimes in APAC.

Strong knowledge of private market asset classes, primarily private credit.

Strong interpersonal skills, client management experience, analytical skills, and attention to detail.

Desire to work in a team environment.
