Position Summary: The Lead Solution Architect is accountable for the business solution designs for key strategic initiatives, including developing architectures that represent business, applications/integration, data, infrastructure, platform, and security architectures. The role involves creating solution architecture for strategic initiatives and partnering with Data, Digital, Analytics, and Technology teams. Responsibilities

End to End Solution Leadership: accountable for driving solutions from cradle to grave for a given domain, providing leadership to application architects and tech leads within their domain. Buy vs Build Analysis: perform in-depth qualitative and quantitative analyses to recommend options with rationale. Architecture and design reviews: lead design reviews, identify gaps, and drive modernization opportunities while navigating a complex IT landscape. Develop Reference Architecture and Implementation: provide leadership to develop cloud-native reference architectures for refactor/optimization of Aetna-related applications. Application profile identification: identify apps targeted for refactor and optimization for cloud. Proof of concept technology support: lead proofs-of-concept and technology deep-dives for partner technologies. Clear technical roadblocks: assist application development teams with performance and other technical challenges. Cost optimization: recommend opportunities to drive cost efficiencies, simplicity, configurability, and reduction of technical debt. Tech debt management: develop proposals to reduce tech debt within a portfolio. Soft Skills

Ability to teach and upskill talent within the organization. Thought leadership and mentoring. Excellent communication and deep collaboration skills; able to influence outcomes and work as part of a team, including cloud capabilities. Required Qualifications

8+ years of design/development experience. 2+ years of hands-on cloud implementation experience. Subject matter expertise in cloud design and architecture for one or more public cloud providers (Azure, AWS or GCP). Subject matter expertise in application, data, integration and security architecture/design. Strong understanding of APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and microservices-based architectures. Experience with technologies that connect modern applications to legacy infrastructure, including streaming platforms like Kafka. Ability to collaborate with Aetna Tech, EA, Operations and Security to deliver solutions. Experience with enterprise development tools and methodologies (XP, Agile), including DevSecOps and DataOps. Hands-on technologist with coding skills; proficient in modern technology stacks (Cloud, DevOps, Kafka, etc.). Understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as cloud database technologies. Demonstrated hands-on experience; facilitates adoption of cloud-native/cloud-first architectures. Experience integrating with legacy mainframe/mid-range applications and developing modernization roadmaps. Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the Healthcare Payor Industry is a plus. AWS/GCP/Azure Architect cloud certification is preferred. Architectural/technical experience with Gen AI (RAG/chain frameworks, Vector DB, embeddings, Agentic AI). Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science/related field or equivalent experience. Pay Range

The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is $118,450.00 - $284,280.00. This base salary range depends on factors including experience and geography. Eligible for CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive, and equity award program. Our people fuel our future.
