Principal Aerodynamics & Stores Separation Engineer - R10212982 Location: Melbourne, FL Base pay range: $95,300.00/yr - $142,900.00/yr Relocation assistance may be available Clearance type: Secret Travel: Yes, 10% of the time Note: This opportunity is contingent on program funding. Start dates are determined after funding confirmation. Responsibilities
Perform aerodynamic characterization efforts utilizing analytical methods Support wind tunnel tests including two body separation tests Conduct aircraft separation analyses Support tool development for conceptual design, aircraft grid creation and related analyses Support conceptual and preliminary design efforts of aircraft and components Produce analysis products that calculate aerodynamic loads on separating bodies Progress infrastructure for databases, codes, and tools management Support wind tunnel, ground, and flight testing Execute uncertainty analyses Collaborate with cross-functional and program-based teams Represent work products in customer meetings and design reviews Collaborate with other disciplines including Configuration, Aerodynamics, S&RE, CFD, Mechanisms, etc. Able to work self-directed Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science (BS) in a STEM discipline and 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a STEM discipline and 3 years of relevant engineering experience Experience with aerodynamic tools and techniques Experience generating aerodynamic databases for 6DOF simulation including proximity effects Experience running 6DOF trajectory analysis Familiarity with translating aerodynamic analyses into workable design solutions for flight vehicles Familiarity with configuration aerodynamics tools Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with CAD tools such as NX and CPLM Demonstrated record of working hard, strong communication skills, and accountability Experience with Matlab for data analysis and data reduction Familiarity or experience with Fortran Previous experience with onsite support of wind tunnel testing and data acquisition systems Solid understanding of aerodynamic fundamentals, CFD techniques, and wind tunnel testing, including two body separation tests Active DoD secret clearance Northrop Grumman is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
