The
Estimator
will play a key role in developing accurate and competitive sitework estimates from concept through proposal. This position requires strong technical expertise and attention to detail across all phases of site development, including clearing, demolition, earthwork, utilities, drainage, concrete, and paving. The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and committed to delivering complete, competitive scopes of work. Project Type

Reviews Request for Proposals (RFP), Bid Instructions, Specifications and Geotechnical Reports in detail to interpret project requirements. Performs site visit to review and confirm existing site conditions and to review any anticipated “Trouble” areas of work (easement work, turn lanes, offsite improvements, overhead or underground utilities, site access, etc.). Attends pre-bid meetings and meets with owners to determine scope of work. Prepares lists of bid items and quantities. Works with clients, engineering firms and/or construction managers with any questions related to RFP, specs, or other construction documents that require clarification to prepare a bid. Quantifies all aspects of the proposed scope of work. Performs or coordinates quantity takeoff to create labor, equipment, and material cost and production estimates. Analyzes alternate construction methods to determine cost effectiveness. Onscreen digitizing, takeoffs, and accurate bid quantity preparation for civil projects. Prepare earthwork grading maps based on plans and onscreen takeoffs. Solicits quotes from vendors and subcontractors as necessary. Prepares comprehensive estimate and proposal detailing scope of work, qualifications and exclusions. Utilize appropriate software programs to calculate, record and track estimated quantities. Updates previous bids based on changes to plan documents or to update costs for rebids. Develop and maintain relationships with company vendors, clients and subcontractors. Supports the Project Management Team by estimating extra work items and change orders. Qualifications/Requirements
High school diploma required. Associates or bachelor’s degree in Math, Construction Management, Business management, Statistic, Engineering or another related field; or relevant combination of education and work experience. Proficiency in HCSS Heavy Bid, Agtek, AutoCAD, Excel and general computer literacy Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, bid instructions and technical documents Proficient math and geometry skills Ability to utilize bid data to prepare cost analysis and proposal Ability to determine what factors of production will influence the cost of a service, product, or Project Review and manage bids from vendors and subcontractors Legal & EEO Language
