Senior Electrical Engineer - Vehicle Sensor Systems

At Saferide, we are solving one of the hardest and most meaningful challenges in the world: ending road deaths. Our plug-and-play vision compute platform retrofits the 200M+ vehicles already on the road with advanced driver assistance and safety features, bringing the future of mobility to every driver, not just those buying new cars. We are scaling from prototype to production, building the first real vision-based solution that can prevent the crashes that kill more than a million people globally each year. This is your chance to join a small, fast-moving team at the exact moment when our product goes from concept to reality. The Role We are looking for a hands-on Electrical Engineer who will own the end-to-end electrical architecture, design, and execution of our hardware systems. This is a core engineering role. Your work will directly determine how our platform performs in vehicles at scale. You will work closely with mechanical, software, and manufacturing partners to bring designs from concept through New Product Introduction (NPI) and into mass production. What You’ll Do Design

power distribution and CAN-bus vehicle management systems for Saferide’s plug-and-play automotive platform. Integrate

off-the-shelf compute, camera, and sensor modules into the overall Saferide system architecture. Own

the full electrical engineering lifecycle — from concept and architecture through schematic capture, rigid-flex PCB design/layout, bring-up, validation, and production release. Develop and interface

high-speed data and power systems, including MIPI, USB, CAN, Ethernet, and related automotive/vision signal standards. Collaborate

closely with embedded, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless electrical-mechanical-firmware integration. Lead

new product introduction (NPI) cycles, including EVT/DVT/PVT builds, debugging, and reliability qualification. Manage

vendor relationships for PCB fabrication, component sourcing, and regulatory compliance (FCC, ISO 26262, NDAA, etc.). What We’re Looking For 5+ years

of end-to-end electrical engineering experience across concept, design, validation, and production — ideally in

automotive, medtech, consumer electronics, or edge compute systems . Hands-on experience

with

STM32

microcontrollers and

Qualcomm-based compute platforms

(e.g., QCM/QCS series). Strong background

in

automotive electrical systems , including

CAN/LIN networks, power distribution, and EMI/EMC compliance . Proficiency integrating

camera sensors and image signal processors from vendors such as

OnSemi, OmniVision, and Sony . Proven ability

to design and ship

complex multi-board systems

with

high-speed interfaces

(MIPI, USB, Ethernet, etc.). Comfort operating in startup environments

— balancing speed, precision, and creativity under tight constraints. Experience with safety-critical design

principles or

manufacturing scale-up

for electronics (ISO 26262, ASIL certification, FCC/CE testing, etc.). Why Join Us The only reason to join a startup is to take on problems you would never get to solve anywhere else. At Saferide we are solving one of the hardest and most meaningful challenges in the world: ending road deaths. We have built the first true vision-based solution that can prevent the crashes that kill more than a million people globally each year, and the product you will help bring into production is designed to eliminate 80 to 90 percent of road deaths. This is your chance to join a small team at the exact moment when our product goes from prototype to reality, and to directly build the systems that scale Saferide from 2,000 units to 100,000 units. Our team combines proven experience in scaling hardware and software products. Our CEO previously scaled his first consumer electronics company to over $100M in revenue while shipping millions of units. Our CTO created 5G at Intel after serving as a staff engineer at Qualcomm for more than a decade. The rest of our engineering team are experts in computer vision, ADAS, and hardware systems. Together, we are building the platform that will bring life-saving safety technology to every vehicle on the road. Salary: $125,000 – $155,000 base, depending on experience and seniority. Equity: Meaningful stock options. Your work directly builds company value, and we believe every team member should share in that upside. Benefits: health, dental, and vision coverage. On-site role in our San Diego office with direct access to hardware, vehicles, and test environments. Seniority level
