Overview
This is a multi-disciplinary financial position that has leadership and accountability for financial reporting (both management and external), controls, compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) financial oversight, cash and foreign exchange monitoring and management, payment approvals, collateral and liquidity management, planning and forecasting, oversight of investments and capital management. This role also interacts with internal audit, external audit, rating agencies (AM Best and Standard & Poor's), regulators and insurance counterparties and includes participation in management committees (Investment Committee and Board meetings).
Responsibilities
Responsible and accountable for the daily financial operations including accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial analysis and reporting
Preparation for and compliance with periodic internal audits of accounting processes and controls and annual external financial statement audits and shareholder financial statements
Regular communications with business managers, risk management, Finance and Tax group on financial issues and regulatory/statutory issues
Responsible and accountable for financial reporting at Board meetings including preparation and analysis of results, dividends calculations and preparation of related Board materials
Approve payments (cheques and wires and investments) and review account reconciliations and group head sign off on PEGA
Accountable as contact for communication, including formal face-to-face meetings with AM Best and Standard & Poor's in their annual reviews and preparation of capital models and information returns
Manages operating cash flows and financial operations
Working within Insurance and Financial Group guidelines, develops and maintains a strong reinsurance finance infrastructure providing efficient and effective accounting processes policies and controls
Responsible for the timely and accurate financial analysis including budgeting and forecasting
Detailed monitoring and analysis of actual results including issue resolution and communication of results and operating issues
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business/Finance/Accounting
Recognised Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CA) or equivalent
7-10 years' work experience in financial reporting, planning and forecasting
Extensive reinsurance industry knowledge and experience, preferably at the international level
Strong understanding of insurance products and knowledge of IFRS including IFRS17
Superior written and verbal communication skills and related experience essential to work effectively internally at all levels across a large and diverse organization and externally with influential rating agencies and regulatory and tax authorities
